traitors, is spelled out in two brief sections, each ending in words which point to the real root of their trouble: They do not know me, says the Lord. (verse 3) They refuse to know me, says the Lord. (verse 6) Such knowing for the Old Testament is never merely head knowledge: it is a relationship with God which is meaningless unless it is lived out in our relationships with one another (see comment on 2:8).
